. . . like old flow blue china plates on a sun-dappled tablecloth . . .
Just as a quilt evolves from the time it is conceived until it is completed, so do the corresponding thoughts, as shown by the following series of haiku written in an attempt to capture the essense of this quilt for my journal.
Warm tender yellows.
Introspective, soft, quiet.
Gracious blue leisure.
~
Soft sunny yellows.
Unpredictable . . . gracious
Charming, soothing blues.
~
Deep blues, bright yellows.
Rich, timeless intensity.
Sun-splashed impressions.
~
Colors of Provence.
Delicate, flamboyant, diverse.
Luxurious calm.
~
~
Painters in Provence.
Picturesque, sun-warmed stillness.
Art of living well.
~
Cezanne and Monet.
Passion, energy, beauty.
Simple elegance.
And the final version for the gift card?
Deep blues, bright yellows.
Flamboyant, delicate, diverse ~
Extravagant calm.
